Why Bi-Annual Ductless Maintenance is Important

Monday, August 29th, 2016 at 11:00 am

The heat of summer is beginning to wane. There’s plenty more hot weather ahead of us, but the nights will be cooling off substantially in the coming weeks. It’s not quite time to schedule maintenance for your ductless system, but it’s not far off either. You may think that you don’t need ductless maintenance again this year, especially if you already had it done earlier in the year. However, it’s important that ductless systems get maintenance twice as often as other systems. Let’s take a look at why bi-annual ductless maintenance is so important.

Catching Problems Early

A lot of people, far too many, wait to call for repairs until they notice a problem with their systems. This doesn’t work too well, since ductless problems don’t often present any symptoms unless they’re quite advanced. If you want to prevent as much damage as possible, you’re going to need to catch problems before they have the chance to give off any symptoms. The only real way to do that is with preventive maintenance. By scheduling maintenance, you give your HVAC technician the opportunity to catch problems early. You can save quite a bit of money on repair costs over the life of your system by doing this.

Twice a Year

For the majority of climate control systems, annual preventive maintenance is just fine. This is because they only have one high-stress season during the year. For ductless systems, though, that isn’t true. Ductless systems are used all year-round, as both air conditioners and heaters. This doubles the amount of wear and tear on the system, which means that it needs twice as much maintenance in order to stay in good operating condition. Be sure to schedule maintenance for your ductless system during the spring and fall.
